30 Day Anime Challenge – Day 1: My First Anime

Hello, Anifriends!

So as I was reading through other blogger’s posts recently I noticed there was something that everyone except me has yet to do: The 30 Day Anime Challenge. For those unfamiliar, the challenge consists of one post every day where said blogger talks about the topic for the corresponding day.

For the first day, I’ll be talking about the first anime I ever watched.

So, what is it?

Bakugan

The first anime I ever watched was Bakugan Battle Brawlers, a show about a game created by friends Shun and Dan after cards started mysteriously falling from the sky. The show starts with a focus on Dan, who is intent on becoming the best Bakugan player of all time. Dan is joined by other members of the “Bakugan Battle Brawlers,” Runo, Julie, Alice and Marucho(in the English dub).

Bakugan really was one of the cornerstones of my childhood, not only because of the anime but because of the toys too. I would spend hours and hours watching the show as well rolling the Bakugan onto cards and watching them open up. It was extremely satisfying.

The show itself, though, honestly was not that bad. Even going back to it multiple times since my time being a ten-year-old, I never noticed anything that made it atrocious compared to most other kid shows. Sure, it’s no Pokemon or Digimon, but it was extremely fun for what it was.

What was your first anime? Let me know in the comments below. Also, if you want to support the Aniwriter through donations or are just feeling generous, consider buying me a coffee on Ko-Fi. Otherwise, thanks for reading and bye for now, Friendos!

  1. I’ve seen a bit of this years ago and really enjoyed it 😁 it’s was surprising to read this as your first anime. Use to Pokémon, sailor moon. Nice to see different answers to this question. Similar to bakugan beyblade was one of my first anime to watch. Spinning tops I’d sit there for hours watching it on my old VHS tape which had same prerecorded episodes on it. It would only come on every Saturday morning so recording it was a must. Lol

    1. Yeah. I remember it would come on Saturday every morning at seven, so my mom would DVR it for me. After I watched that there would be other stuff like beyblade and pokemon, so I would sit around and watch those too. Definitely had a lot of fun with Beyblade.

  2. The very 1st anime I watched knowing it was an anime was Cardcaptor Sakura.
But if I look at the first anime I watch (even if at that time I had no clue what was anime) it was probably The Mysterious Cities of Gold or an other anime from the 80′

  3. My first experience with anime Pokemon (Though I didn’t know it at the time). When I discovered anime as an adult, my first series was Hetalia Axis Powers shown to me by a family member. Love the humor of the show until this day.
