30 Day Anime Challenge – Day 20: A Character That Gets on My Nerves

Hello, Anifriends

For day 20 of the 30 Day Anime Challenge, I’ll be talking about a character that I absolutely cannot stand.

This probably will not surprise anyone who has seen the show, but for this category, I think I am going to half to go with Asta from Black Clover.

Asta

From the beginning of episode one, Asta came off as the most obnoxious, uninteresting, borderline copy and paste main characters that I have ever seen in my entire life. It really did not help that the show he is apart of could not be described as anything other than a mix between Naruto and Fairytail, and is somehow less interesting.

Getting back to Asta, though, he is just absolute garbage. His screaming in episode one and two are just the worst. The fact that anybody thought to give the voice acting role to the lead character in what was supposed to be Studio Pierrot’s next big hit shonen to someone who had literally only had one voice acting gig before must have been on drugs because my god is it obvious. Even after the screaming sort of disappears a bit he just exists as the main character and does not really do anything of interest.

Really the best way to describe him is flat. Somehow he is both annoying and uninteresting at the same time.

Which anime character can you not stand? Let me know in the comments below. Also, if you want to support the Aniwriter through donations or are just feeling generous, consider buying me a coffee on Ko-Fi. Otherwise, thanks for reading and bye for now, Friendos!

  1. Yeah that screaming is probably the worst thing to hear on the planet at this point lol. My issue with the character is that his personality actually makes it hard to root for him in a way. He is just too positive all the time even with all the crap he gets- doesn’t really seem human I guess.
