30 Day Anime Challenge – Day 21: My Favorite “Goofy” Character

Hello, Anifriends

For day 21 of the 30 Day Anime Challenge, I’ll be talking about my favorite goofy character.

To me, goofy really just sounds like another work for nonsensical, and nothing reminds me more of nonsensical than Haru from My Little Monster.

My Little Monster is ultimately about about two extremely awkward teenagers who realize that it’s totally ok to be extremely awkward together. Except, that Haru is someone who takes that Awkwardness to nonsensical levels.

Similar to Shizuku, Haru has spent his entire life not understanding relationships, and for that the two of them have been alone, but Haru is also just dumb. He is very much a person who has no problem lashing out at anything he does not understand and is quick to anger.

I find it goofy because the show makes him almost socially awkward to the point of being unbelievable.

Granted, this very much changes over the course of the show, but the first few episodes really make him kind of amazing in an unimaginatively stupid sort of way.

Who is your favorite goofy anime character? Let me know in the comments below. Also, if you want to support the Aniwriter through donations or are just feeling generous, consider buying me a coffee on Ko-Fi. Otherwise, thanks for reading and bye for now, Friendos!

  1. I found his lack of EQ pretty annoying while watching the series, but I have to admit that his goofiness is what made the show pretty swell too! (I mean… his accidental hits from his violent tendencies… – ok I shouldn’t be laughing at that) 🙂
