30 Day Anime Challenge – Day 23: My Favorite Attack

Hello, Anifriends

For day 23 of the 30 Day Anime Challenge, I’ll be talking about a favorite attack used by a character.

There are definitely a lot of cool attacks from different anime characters. The one that comes off as the coolest, however, is Gon’s JaJanken (Rock Paper Scissors) attack from Hunter X Hunter.

Jajanken-7

Hunter X Hunter, aside from being arguably one of the best Shonen series in the last decade, has a lot of fantastic core elements that set it apart. One of those good core parts is the system of Nen. Nen as a source of power for characters work’s somewhat similarly to Chakra in Naruto.

Every person in the Hunter X Hunter universe is born as one of the above types, and each character can use there Nen in a way that is unique to them. Gon’s power is cool because he is able to utilize the functions of other Nen types with his attack. Each of the three modes of his ability, Rock, Paper, and scissors represent a different type of Nen user. The only drawback is that in channeling the power of a type that is not his own, his power becomes weaker.

By far the coolest part of this attack is its change to an emission type, which allows Gon to shoot his aura outward like a laser. It may not be the strongest attack, but it does look awesome.

      1. The original was my first experience of HxH and I read the manga long years ago. It was definitely a good series, but you can tell it is older. The original TV show and OVAs go up to the Greed Island arc, so it’s not the whole story especially since the manga didn’t have as much content then and Yoshihiro Togashi had multiple hiatuses do to illness.
