30 Day FMA Challenge: Day 2

Welcome, weebs, to Animated Observations

It is day two of the 30 Day FMA Challenge.

2. Favorite Thing About FMA

My favorite thing about FMA is easily the world building and lore behind it. Of course, there is the alchemy and the different types of alchemy that characters use that have endless application, be it war or even repairing of infrastructure. The history behind the Ishvalan war of extermination and how alchemy was used to kill hundreds of thousands was also fascinating as well.

The other thing I love about it is all the parallels to other historical events. Of course, Amestria has pretty obvious parallels to Europe and the government represented in the show is pretty similar to Germany in the 1930’s and 40’s. The Ishvalan War is itself also pretty similar to the war in Iraq, seeing how it was started under false pretenses. Maybe not as conspiratorial, but still just as disgusting in the way it was handled.

What’s your favorite thing about FMA overall? Let me know in the comments.

  1. My favourite thing abt FMA is the story itself….the bond between the brothers, their harrowing journey for the philosopher’s stone, the truth about alchemy & Amestris, all those unforgettable characters- Hughes, Mustang, Hawkeye, Scar etc…. & the most satisfying end to any anime I have ever seen!! I will call it the Harry Potter of the anime….
