5. Favorite Homunculi

Across both iterations of FMA, Envy remains my clear favorite. For as interesting as some of the other Homunculous are, and believe me, some of their backstories are great, Envy has always been the one I enjoy watching the most.

For a start, as someone who watched the show exclusively dubbed, Envy’s English voice actor did a really good job of portraying the Homunculous’ character not only as a villain but as someone who seemed like they were really just along for the ride, not caring what happened to the world so long as he made it out alive.

Aside from that the though, his designation as Envy among the seven deadly sins never really made that much sense because his desire to be human that was expressed in the show never felt genuine. Then again, it could just be that he was hiding his insecurity behind a false bravado, which makes the most sense from a storytelling perspective.
