Here is day two of my second 30 Day Anime Challenge
#2: Worst Anime Ending I Have Watched
“Samurai Flamenco” was a weird show, not like, weird in a fun, quirky sort of way, but more weird in a very demented, over the top kind of way. What started as a interesting, noticeably different super hero story ended up being a combination of sci-fi, drama, horror and thriller.
However, if it had consistently kept the focus on one of its particular aspects, it could have been really good. There were many surprise developments within the show that made it incredibly fun to watch. However, “Samurai Flamenco’s” ending ended a disappointment, because it was barely related to the story line that came before it.

Animated Observations 
I can’t remember any single ending that’s particularly bad… But there’s any number of “now read the manga” (or the associated “our battle goes on”) endings out there. I hate it when they can’t manage a clean ending for an ongoing series.

I agree. I feel It shows a laziness in the writing when studios are not willing to come up with a good stopping point. Maybe that’s a bit of ignorance on my part for how production works, but still feels bad.

It’s not just the studios I suspect. The IP owners (“those with the gold”) no doubt have input, and in Japan the original creators have far greater rights over their works and any adaptations than is common in the West. Lots of fingers in the pie.

That would make sense. I guess a lot of the time its in the creator’s best interest to leave the ending open like that so that a season two becomes more likely.
