Aniwriter Update #19: Finishing Up School and Hopes for the Summer

Welcome, weebs, to Animated Observations

and by that I mean another update, hehe.

The End of the School Year

Well, its almost over, and by that I mean my suffering. No, just kidding, I mean my semester is almost over, and it feels good. There were a lot of positives and negatives, and I would say that I definitely got a lot out of my classes, especially my English and Philosophy class, even if we randomly finished the course online for some reason.

I can also say that I’m excited to have more free time. There is so much that I have been wanting to do, like finally finishing Persona 5, or playing more Smash than I have been, and especially watching more anime that I haven’t been able to do, or that I just haven’t felt motivated to do. But, speaking of more free time.

What Will the Summer Bring?

I also want to use the summer as a way to focus more on my writing, as well. What does that mean exactly? Well, I want to try and get back into the blogging community more. I haven’t exactly been the most involved recently, and if possible I would like to try and meet some new people and even do some more collaborations. Let’s see if we can hit the ground running this time.

Aniwriter Update #15: New Collaborations and Announcements

Welcome, weebs, to Animated Observations

While we’ve all been enjoying the fruits of what looks to be a pretty good anime season, at least for the past two weeks, I’ve actually been pretty busy. I finally started hashing out some of the details on my book idea with my friend and have gotten to writing it, and I’ve also been working on some collabs, which was one of my new year’s resolutions.

Collab with KawaiiPaperPandas

You guys might have seen it already, but in case you haven’t, I did a fun collab with Ayano from KawaiiPaperPandas in which we talked about which anime characters would best represent different zodiac signs. I did the regular zodiac signs, and she did the Chinese zodiac, so if that interests you at all you can click the link above.

Future Writing on Another Blog?

Another thing you might have seen these last two weeks is an announcement from Sam over on A Nerdy Perspective on her new site called Sounds of the Rising Sun, where she is going to be talking about Japanese music and things related to it. In her original post describing the project, Sam also asked for contributors, and so now I am going to be one. I will be writing a series of posts, most likely weekly, where I talk about the music behind different anime openings and what makes them unique and awesome or maybe not so. So, if you want to see more writing from me in the future on a different site, be sure to give it a follow.

Aniwriter Update #12: Back to School Again

Welcome, weebs, to Animated Observations

It is that time again to give you all an update on what’s going on with the blog. So, in order to keep this quick, let’s just get started.

Going Back to School

For me, the new semester has started and that means new classes. Right now I’m taking Intro to Philosophy and Intro to Poly Sci, which, so far, have been fairly interesting. However, me being back in school now part time and also working the same hours at my job as before means that I will have a lot less time to write, and that means less posts, so don’t expect as frequent updates.

Future Content

As someone who has been writing on this blog for approaching two years now, I have realized how easy it can be to fall back on doing the same thing over an over again. This is why that am really going to try and experiment when it comes to the content I make in the future. That includes new kinds of posts, as well as some potential collaborations, so stay tuned for those.

Posts from the Last Two Weeks

Normally, I would just list everything from the last two weeks that I have written, but since most of what I have done is just Poetry from the 30 Day Poetry Challenge, and Episode Reactions from the new season, I’ll just link those categories here.

And that’s it for this update. Yeah, not to much going on for this one.

The Aniwriter Update #3: Another Sakuga City Article and My Status on School

Welcome, weebs and authors alike, to another update.

I hope you all have had a wonderful two weeks since the last time I gave you an update, but now it is time again to let you know what exactly is going on with me, The Aniwriter, and life in general.

March Comes in Like a Lion on Sakuga City

Kyoko.jpg

In case you all missed it, I wrote yet another article for Sakuga City. This time I talked about March Comes in Like a Lion and how Kyoko is kind of an awful person. And when I say kind of I mean most definitely an awful person. I also wrote a review of No Game No Life Zero on Sakuga City as well, so you should check that out too.

How School is Affecting Content

As I predicted before, school right now isn’t really going to have to big of an impact on my writing flow. That may change later on in the year when my English class becomes a bit more intense, but for now, everything is probably going to stay just about the same. My goal is to have at least three posts out a week and potentially an additionally post out on my political blog if I can manage it.

Continuing the Conversation on Slice of Life

A few days ago I posted an article talking about and defending the genre of slice of life and its characterization as boring. In that article, I said there is going to be a second part where I talk about the problem of defining Slice of Life as a genre. I just wanted to inform you that the second part of that piece will still be coming out next week, but more than likely a bit later in the week, probably on Friday or something.

Extending a Collab Invitation

I forgot to mention in my This Week in Anime post yesterday that I was recently tagged in an awesome new collaboration tag made by Karandi and Raistlin. When I read that it was supposed to be a collaboration, I was honestly not sure who I should ask. So, I thought I would extend a bit of an invitation here. If anyone wants to do this tag with me, let me know. It would be super fun, I think.

Aniwriter Update #1: An Update on Updates

Welcome, weebs and authors alike, to The Aniwriter.

It occurred to me last week that a lot of the time, as you might have noticed, I don’t post consistency, or with a lot of frequency, which made me think about a couple things.

  1. I’m sure people would like me to have a more consistent post schedule, which I will try to work on for the future
  2. My readers would also probably appreciate an update every so often to know whats going on.

Well, for now at least, I am finally getting around to solving one of those problems. From now on, every other Friday there will be a guaranteed update post in addition to whatever I post on that day. Since I still don’t post that frequently, I’ve decided it would be best to make it bi-weekly, that way I’m not flooding anyone’s notifications with just update posts.

NO Game No Life Zero 2.png

Also, in case you missed it from last week, my first ever article for Sakuga City went up about a week and a half ago. It’s a review of the No Game No Life movie. If you haven’t seen the movie, I would highly suggest doing so before reading the review, because there are spoilers. My next article for them is currently in planning stages, but I will say that its going to be about March Comes in Like a Lion, so stayed tuned for that.

Lastly, here is everything I’ve posted over the last two weeks:
