I’ve Been Nominated for an Award?!

Welcome, weebs, to Animated Observations

Advertisements

It would appear I have been nominated for an award…a blogging award that is. I am nonetheless grateful to have been tagged by the amazingly wonderful Moya of The Moyatorium for the Liebster Award. It has been a while since I have done one of these, but I sometimes like answering oddly specific questions about myself. So, the Rules:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  2. Answer 11 questions given to yoby the blogger.
  3. Nominate 11 more bloggers.
  4. Ask your nominees 11 questions too.
  5. Notify the selected nominees you chose after uploading your post, like commenting on their post.

Moya has provided such a list of oddly specific questions, and so I will try my best at the end to do the same. With that being said, here they are:

1. What is your best tip for a good night’s sleep

I’ll start by saying that (obviously) I am not a sleep expert, so I can only speak from experience. Usually, the best nights of sleep I get are after a long day of either work or studying, and going to bed immediately without scrolling social media or looking at my phone at all. Lots of devices emit a certain kind of light which can reduce melatonin, the thing that helps regulate sleep. So yeah, at the risk of sounding like a boomer, get off your phone.

2. if you get to own three plants that magically never have to be watered and always thrive on their own, which three plants would you choose?

The answer to this question probably depends on my living situation tbh, but right now I would probably say Rose, Hydrangea, and Daffodil since they all look very nice.

3. What’s your opinion on the true crime genre

I don’t really have anything against it, it is just not for me. Personally, if I am going to listen to a podcast I would rather it be something a bit more immediately entertaining like 2-4 people just talking about random stuff and making jokes or something more politically informative.

4. if you had to doodle a sun, how many rays would you typically give it?

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…3

5. Do you like chocolates with caramel inside (why would anyone like those)?

eh, If they are the only thing around and I am craving something sweet they will do the job, but generally not the first thing I go to. I would rather eat ice cream of some kind or a Mound bar if we are talking chocolate still.

6. Do you like Blueberries?

I suppose so, rarely if ever eat them though outside of being baked into a muffin.

7. What Diet Trend can you never imagine yourself trying?

Keto, without a doubt. Had a lot of IRL friends and coworkers try it and they almost never looked happy.

8. What’s the worst nickname you’ve heard someone call their significant other?

I do not think I have a good answer for this. I use to think people calling each other Bae was kind of cringe, but then I grew up and stopped caring.

9. Tie or Bowtie

Ideally neither, since I think most of them look tacky. If I am picking one though, probably Tie.

10. Are you a good liar?

oh yeah, totally, pffttt…*yawns literally every time I lie*

11. What Kind of cake should I bake for your birthday?

tbh, idk how inconvenient it would be to ship a cake to the States, but I do really like a good coconut cake every once in a while.

Thanks again Moya for the tag and the questions. I did a number of these in the past, and the people I would typically tag are probably busy, so I’ll try tagging some bloggers I’ve found in the last year or so. If they are so inclined, they can use this to introduce/reintroduce themselves, but obviously, it’s no big deal if they don’t feel like it.

Tagging

The Questions

  1. Worst airport/taxi experience?
  2. Weirdest encounter with a stranger?
  3. Hardest test you’ve ever taken?
  4. Is water wet?
  5. Highest number of sodas you’ve mixed together and drunk?
  6. What day-to-day task would you consider relaxing?
  7. You are making a list of your 10 favorite anime. What show gets close, but doesn’t make the cut?
  8. What is manga/comic series you would not like to see adapted into movie/television?
  9. How many pieces of media would you say have significantly altered the trajectory of your life?
  10. If you could pick any job, but you had to give up retirement before 75 no matter what, would you pick a new job?
  11. Where do you see yourself next month?

A Mystery to be Revealed…What Could it be?

Welcome, weebs, to Animated Observations

Well, life never stops moving I guess, and as I matter of fact neither do I. Since Most of house is currently in boxes this week I thought I would take a week off from serious posts. I also didn’t really feel like crying this week because of AnoHana, so there’s that. Regardless, I want to thank Chizurue from Of Midnight Ravings and Nesha from Wore Her Sweater for nominating me for the mystery blogger award. With that being said, lets get to it.

Rules, Rules, Rules

  • Display the award logo on your blog.
  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Mention Okoto Enigma, the creator of the award.
  • Tell your readers 3 things about yourself.
  • Answer 5 questions from the nominee.
  • Nominate 10 – 20 bloggers.
  • Notify your nominees by leaving a comment on their blog.
  • Ask your nominees 5 questions of your choice, including 1 weird or funny question.
  • Share the link to your best post.

Three Things About Me

  • One of my goals for the near future is to be a published author. Whether that means fiction or poetry, self-published or professionally so, I honestly have no idea, but I definitely have a lot of ideas that I want to get out in some semi-organized form
  • My favorite anime is “March Comes in Like a Lion.” While this is not new information, I just want to make sure it is known. You should go watch it. like, now.
  • Working during a pandemic is definitely one of the worst experiences I have had and probably will ever have.

Questions

Since both Chizurue and Nesha both nominated me around the same time, I’ll try and respond to both of their questions

First up, Chizurue.

What’s the most useless talent you have?

Hmmm…Well, It’s mostly useless, but I’m pretty decent in competitive “Smash Ultimate.” Aside from that, I don’t really have any other talents that could really be classified as useless talents. Mostly because I don’t have that many talents to begin with.

What anime or movie or series would you turn into a novel to lure the bookworms in?

Normally I would snap say “March” here because that’s my answer to everything, but I actually don’t think it would be as compelling in book form. This is kind of sudden, but I think “Terror in Resonance” would work really well as a novel, as the drama in that series seems much more suited to written form.

What movie, anime, drama or series can you watch over and over without ever getting tired of? (Pick one or share one each) – This is really just me asking for recommendations.

“Oregairu,” or “My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU” is always a go to for me. I am actually currently re-watching the series with one of my best friends, and even 6 years after first watching it, the show still sells its message so well. It can be a little pretentious sometimes, and the main character is unlikeable for sure, but that’s the point 99.9 percent of the time. plz watch.

What mythical creature do you wish actually existed? So it can be your pet, a spirit animal, or you in your next life.

probably dragons. I know that’s a pretty basic answer, but its true. Dragons are pretty cool.

What made you follow this blog Of Midnight Ravings? (If you’re not following my blog – why not? or just disregard this one)

My memory is pretty off, but I believe its cause I interacted with you first and then saw you also blogged. You seemed, and still are, pretty cool;)

And now, Nesha

What is that ONE desire or enthusiasm, the passion of yours that drives your soul?

F O O D…lol, jk. At this point, I think its probably either writing or gaming. While I have never considered myself a particularly competitive person, it always feels good to be able to consistently perform well in something, which is why I enjoy gaming. However, I also enjoy the collaboration and teamwork that comes with writing. so, its pretty much a toss up.

What makes you grateful, optimists, and concerned about this passion of yours?

I definitely feel like every time I do either of the two, whether it be working on poetry or short stories or getting better competitively at a specific game, which definitely makes me more optimistic about doing either thing. My biggest concern probably is just that it never pays off, but I try not to think about that to much.

What does success look like in your head?

I would consider myself successful when I have to work as little as possible and have the freedom to do what I want.

What do you enjoy about writing?

I really enjoy the craft of writing. It feels amazing when you can utilize certain literary tools successfully and it translates over when people read your work.

Do you like cats? What about catgirls? (This is the funny one)

Both are okay in my book.

My Best Post

This is kind of hard, tbh, but If I had to pick my best post, it would probably be this one:

Everything is Politics, Including Anime, and What That Should Mean

I put quite a bit of research into it, probably more than any other post I have written. plz read.

Real Neat Blogger Award – Guess I’m Pretty Cool Again

Welcome, weebs, to Animated Observations

Its been a while since I’ve responded to a blog award of any kind, but thank you to Ospreyshire for the nomination. Here are the rules:

  • Put the award logo on your blog.
  • Answer the 7 questions asked by the person who nominated you.
  • Thank the person who nominated you and add a link to their blog.
  • Nominate any number of people linking to their blogs and let them know you nominated them by commenting on their blogs.
-Come up with 7 questions for the people you nominated.

Alright, and here are the question Opresyshire has for me:

1. Who is your favorite poet?

As of right now, Rudy Fransisco. He writes a lot of amazing stuff.

2. If you could make a musical movie, which artist or band’s music would you use and what would the plot look like?

I’m assuming by musical movie you mean something where the music is more integrated and important to the movie at large. In that case, I would probably go with a band like PVRIS who has a more Rock/Electronic sound. As for the plot, It would probably end up being a more Shinkai-esk love story, but with more of a focus on side characters and the setting.

3. Which country would you want to visit that you’ve never been to before?

I definitely would like to go somewhere in Europe at some point. Maybe Germany or somewhere in the UK, not entirely sure though.

4. Which book would you like to see adapted as a movie or TV show? This can be a novel, novella, novelette, graphic novel, manga, or any form of literature.

My first Instinct would be to say No Game No Life, but I think a lot of it would have to be rewritten for a global audience to the point where it wouldn’t be the same story anymore. Still, it would be interesting to see someone make the attempt.

5. What is your favorite instrument to hear in music?

Electric Guitar, just because its not very often that it is utilized

6. If you had the power to give an unknown or under-appreciated musician the ability to have one of their songs to be a #1 hit, what musician/singer/band would it be and what song would it be from them to temporally get rid of the typical mainstream Top 40 doldrums?

Aesop Rock, easily. Definitely one of the best rappers know one knows about.

7. What is the worst case of protagonist centered morality you’ve seen in a movie, story, TV show, etc.? For those not familiar with the term, let me put it to you this way. What is something you’ve seen a heroic character do that was bad and would never get away with it if they were a villain?

Tbh, I’ve thought about it for a while, and I can’t come up with anything super egregious. I guess the amount of people they kill in Stranger Things is a bit questionable, but even then a lot of those situations are pretty justified.

And now, here are my questions:

  1. What’s the worst experience you have had at a convention(assuming you’ve been to one?) If not, what’s the worst experience you’ve had interacting with members of a fandom?
  2. How has your favorite piece art, be it a book, movie, TV series, etc, affected you as a person?
  3. Aside from blogging, what hobby, besides what you write about, takes up a significant portion of your time?
  4. How has writing on a blog affected you work outside of blogging?
  5. What do you believe to be the most important element of a good story?
  6. What is your favorite Podcast? Or, favorite music album from the last year?
  7. Is there such a thing as a Universal Morality? I.E. a set of moral codes that apply in all cases.

And now for the nominees. Since I know this award has been going for a while, anyone who wants to respond can do so, but I won’t nominate anyone specifically.

I’ve Been Tagged Again! The Make it Anime Tag

Welcome, weebs, to Animated Observations

Well, it seems as though I’ve been tagged again! Time for another round of the T.A.P Tag. Thank you to Irina for tagging me. Here are the rules.

  • Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog post.
  • Choose 1 Book, Movie and TV show of your choice that you think could work as an anime. (A series of books or movies is allowed e.g. Lord of the Rings, Hunger Games)
    • If you want to pick more than 1 from each section that’s fine. Or if you can’t think of one for a specific category that’s fine also.
  • Explain why you think your choices could work as an anime. Maybe the advent of animation would enhance it, maybe the different anime genres could help expand and improve the story. Just go crazy with it.
  • Link back to the original post so I can read people’s suggestions, I’d love to read everyone’s ideas.
  • Include Make it Anime in your tags so everyone including myself can find them all easily.
  • Nominate around 5-10 bloggers.

Book: The Remains of the Day

I picked Never Let Me Go as my book for the first version of this tag I did, and I knew as soon as I got tagged again what the second one would be. While I have not actually finished The Remains of the Day yet, I can tell already that this would be something I would love to watch. It has a similar feel to Violet Evergarden, only the anime would be much more focused on Stephen, the main character, rather than any of the side characters surrounding him.

Movie: How to Train Your Dragon

I recently went to see the third How to Train Your Dragon with a couple of friends of mine and it was a lot of fun, but I would also love to see it as an anime. I think it being a Dreamworks production limits a lot of the aspects of the story that are able to be explored. It would be really cool to find out more of the world’s history and how it is Dragons came to inhabit it.

TV: The Walking Dead

Alright, not gonna lie, I just think this would be a lot of fun. I don’t know whether or not The Walking Dead would be a good anime or not, I just think it would be entertaining. Especially when it comes to the group dynamics of the cast.

Since this is my second time doing this, I won’t bother anyone else with a specific nomination, but if this is a format you are interested in doing, consider yourself nominated.

What other forms of media would you like to see as an anime? Let me know in the comments. If you would like to support The Aniwriter or are just feeling generous, consider donating on Ko-fi or using one of the affiliate links down below:

Brotherhoods are Pretty Cool – Brotherhood of the World Blog Award

Welcome, weebs and authors alike, to The Aniwriter

Last week, I was nominated by one of my favorite fellow bloggers, Sam from A Nerdy Perspective, for the Brotherhood of the World Blog Award. Being part of a brotherhood definitely seems cool, and I would also like to go on secret missions, so…whoever is out there waiting to give me a secret mission, I’m totally ready.

Brotherhood Award.jpg

Anyway, here are the rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the questions sent to you.
  • Nominate around 10 bloggers.
  • Create your own set of questions for your nominees and display the rules.

And now for the questions from Sam:

What is your favorite TV show outside of anime?

For a while, it was walking dead, but as I’ve watched a lot more TV, I’ve found myself drawn to a lot of other shows. If we’re talking just live action shows, then its House of Cards hands down. With animated series included, then I’d probably have to give that to Steven Universe.

If you were playing a game of Dungeons and Dragons what would your character be and why?

I’ve actually played a couple of Dungeons and Dragons games before. My first time playing I was a Cleric and the second time I was a paladin. Other than those, I would say probably wizard, especially since wizards in 5th edition are really good.

You have two machines. One can take you into the depths of space and you can travel across the universe. The other is a time machine which can take you to whatever point in time in the past or future. Which do you choose and why?

Probably the time machine. I think it would be a lot more interesting to study different points in time and look at how other people lived than it would be to explore space. That’s just me though.

Which anime/manga/game/movie/etc do you think has been the best to come out of 2018 so far?

Megalo Box for sure. I would not be surprised if this show sweeps the Crunchyroll anime awards like My Hero Academia did last year.

What attracted you to anime/manga/gaming in the first place?

Basically, my own loneliness. I was never much for social interaction when I was younger, and when I discovered anime for the first time, it felt like I had discovered a whole new realm of possibilities. I could preoccupy myself and not get that same feeling of loneliness.

And now for some other nominations; apologies to everyone who has already been nominated

100WordAnime

Peach’s Almanac

Two Happy Cats

I know the rules say ten people, but considering how quickly everyone usually gets tagged for these kinds of things, I’ll keep the list short, as well as the questions. If anyone wants to answer the questions themselves in the comments or in a separate post, feel free.

Has your blog ever affected you positively in your personal life, aside from the benefit of being able to write?

What time period in history do you find most interesting?

What is the most interesting place you’ve been?

If you want to support the Aniwriter through donations or are just feeling generous, consider buying me a coffee on Ko-Fi. Otherwise, thanks for reading and bye for now, Friendos!

My Reasons Why Award

Last month, Kimchisama wrote a blog post that would be the beginning of this award, the My Reasons Why award. I highly recommend you read her original post, although, fair warning, it is a bit sad, to say the least. In the post, Kimchi talks about some horribly tragic events that have taken place at the school where she works. In light of those terrible events, she has decided to start the My Reasons Award, an award that, at its core, is a celebration of life.

As someone who recently struggled with depression, I know it can sometimes be hard to find anything worth appreciating, especially when you feel like complete trash. But in spite of that, it is important to remember that no matter how hard it gets, there are things worth living for.

Here are the rules for this award:

  1. Mention the person who nominated you (that would be Auri-san and Chizu. Thank you both!).
  2. List thirteen reasons why you keep going/living.
  3. Nominate 10 people
  4. Use the picture Kimchi created (It is going to be my header image for this post).

Without further ado, my thirteen reasons why:

  1. My family – I really could not imagine leaving my family without so prematurely. I know it would hurt them to have me leave.
  2. My friends – If it was not for a lot of my friends, I would not be the person I am today. From my casual acquaintances to the friends I made in my high school newspaper, to my best friend. It is not wrong to say that I live a lot of my life for them.
  3. The News – It might sound a little weird, but the reason I got into journalism is so that I could listen to and get involved in amazing stories. When I hear good stories, it makes me feel better about the world.
  4. Anime – I would be remiss not to mention half of the reason this blog even exists. I’ve been aware of the phenomenon of anime ever since I was twelve, and its impact has not been lost on me.
  5. Politics – It might also sound weird to say that I live for politics, but a lot of politics is just another way to hear different people’s stories. Everyone has different reason’s for the things they believe, and some are deeply personal.
  6. Podcasts – I have recently remembered how much I love listening to podcasts, mostly because of the conversational aspect of it. I love hearing people exchange ideas in a more casual setting.
  7. Books – There are a lot of books that I have been really wanting to read but I have not gotten the chance to, so hopefully I can get to all of those.
  8. Manga – Same thing as for books. Especially Tokyo Ghoul:re, because I am still a little confused on some things.
  9. Hot showers – Cold showers are pretty good, but there is nothing like being under a constant stream of warm water for a few minutes.
  10. Twitter – It really is the best place for some of the dumbest things possible, all while realizing that no one takes it seriously.
  11. Memes – *Inhales a plate of delicious memes*
  12. Poetry and writing – the other half of my blog which makes it complete.
  13. Blogging – Having a space to vent and talk about myself, my problems and everything else related to my experience as a human being has been helpful in a lot of ways.

And now for nominations:

I thought it would be better to just go ahead and nominate everyone who reads this. I think this is a really important award, not because it’s not important, but because everyone has there reasons for living, and I think sharing them is important.

Thank you all for being on this journey with me. You are all wonderful.

Thanks for reading and bye for now, Friendos!

My First Blogging Award!

Well, This is going to be an exciting post to write.

Arthifis over at Arthifis’ place nominated me for the Liebster award, and even though I have already taken two semesters of German, I did not, in fact, know that Liebster meant beloved or dearest, to which I say: “aaaaaaaaaawwwwwww.”

Apparently, these are the rules:

  • Share the link of the blogger who nominated you.
  • answer the 11 questions
  • nominate 11 other bloggers
  • give 11 questions for them to answer

Now, time for those questions:

  1. Why did you start Blogging?
    1. Answer: I actually started blogging as a way to relieve stress. The summer of this year was a bit of a hectic time for me. I was taking online classes to get the credits I needed to graduate, and there was a lot of work I hadn’t done. My blog was a way of distracting myself, forgetting about problems by just putting words on a screen.
  2. If you could enter any fantasy world of your choice, which one would you pick and why?
    1. Answer: It’s always really funny thinking about the logistics of any fantasy world, because there’s so much that could go wrong and potentially end with you being dead, but if I had to pick one, It would be Konosuba, just to see how lucky I can get with my stats.
  3. What is your spirit animal?
    1. Answer: Rei Kiriyama from March Comes in Like a Lion
  4. Do you see yourself as an introvert or an extrovert?
    1. Answer: I would probably describe myself as introvert leaning, but as soon as I get to know someone decently well then all social fronts disappear and I just become loud and obnoxious.
  5. Do you put first the cereal and then the milk, or first the milk and then the cereal?
    1. Answer: I actually pour the milk on a table, then pour the cereal on top of the milk and then use my bowl as a topping. I find it tastes a lot better like that.
  6. Are there any anime/series/movie you saw that you think you would do a better job writing it, which one and why?
    1. Answer: Quite a few, actually, but for the sake of the question, I’ll pick one: Rage of Bahamut. It isn’t a particularly well-written show to begin with, but as someone who spent an embarrassingly long amount of time playing the original mobile game, I have quite a few ideas on how it could have played out.
  7. Which anime/series/movie disappointed you the much and why?
    1. Answer: Good question, and to be honest, I don’t really have a good answer. GAMERS! from last season is the biggest culprit, but very rarely do I go into a show with expectations that can’t be met.
  8. What fictional character you love the most and why?
    1. Answer: Rei Kiriyama from March Comes in Like a Lion, because He is extremely relatable.
  9. Without thinking! Complete the following sentence: Tomorrow I will…
