A New Semester Begins

Welcome, weebs, to Animated Observations

I have mentioned a few times over the last few weeks. However, since I know everyone is also busy around this time of year, and since I would like to have a bit of a buffer window for content, I figured would do a bit of an update on my current situation.

Back to School

By the time this gets released, I will have already started back college. I can’t really say whether or not that is a good or bad thing at this point, but one thing I can say is that I will be a lot busier than I have been. As always, that means I cannot guarantee that the same schedule I have been using will be maintained. Luckily, though, my motivation has been a lot higher, both to watch shows and to write, and since my responsibilities will not be as split between extracurriculars, it should be less of a problem.

Also, for those curious, here are a few of the series I plan on covering over the next couple of months:

Anime

  • Eureka Seven: Astral Ocean
  • Evangelion: Rebuild Movies
  • Aquatope of the White Sand
  • Sonny Boy
  • Honey and Clover (I completely forgot about this one)

Video Games

  • Hearthstone
  • Smash Ultimate
  • Robotics;Notes

So, yeah, look forward to that.

New Series?!

Yes! Maybe?

I have not been the greatest when it comes to delivering on things, but assuming I can find some good material, which I already have a bit of, this should end up being pretty fun, if nothing else. I do not want to give away to much for those who are not already in the loop, but let’s just say there will be a lot of laughs to go around.

Streaming

Unfortunately, or fortunately I guess depending on your perspective, if and when school does end up getting busy, streaming is probably going to be one of the first things I cut back on. Do not get me wrong, I still very much enjoy playing games, and I still want to add more of an anime themed element to my streams. However, it is not my number one priority at the moment. I will still be doing it when I have time, but not all the time.

So yeah, that’s my life right now. What do you guys have going on? Let me know in the comments below.

Animated Observations Update #7: New Opportunities and a Much Needed Break

Welcome, weebs, to Animated Observations

It says a lot about the stress college induces when it feels like I have already been there for a year and yet I literally have only been there for like a few months. Aside from that though, everything has been going pretty well overall. By the time this comes out I will probably be in full study/work mode. While that is going on, though, I want to make sure all of you wonderful people are informed as to what is going on, so here is another update.

Getting a New Job (Kind of)

So, I mentioned it on Twitter roughly a week ago, but starting next school semester I will officially be a columnist for The Daily Beacon, the University of Tennessee’s own Newspaper. I kind of applied for the job out of curiosity, not really knowing what to expect. The same day I sent in my application the opinion editor for the paper emailed me back saying that I got an interview. The interview happened just one week later, and by Friday of that same week they told me I had the job. Now, its not a paid job, which of course sucks, but it is also an opportunity to write about anime to a whole new group of readers, so overall I am excited.

As of right now, it is kind of up in the air as to what exactly the column will be about. The main focus will for sure be anime, but otherwise I have a wide variety of ideas as to what specifically I am going to focus on.

After everything gets going and I start publishing on a regular basis I will link all of the stuff I write on here as well. That way, you guys can read them too.

Winter Break

After what feels like a long semester, I am finally getting the chance to relax in just a few weeks. Hopefully this means I can work on more blog related content and my own personal writing too. Speaking of getting to work on things…

The 300 Follower Thank You!

As I mentioned in my last update, I promised on Twitter that if I get to 300 WordPress followers I would shout all of them out in a video. School and a lot of others things have prevented me from being able to get that done, but since I will have more time coming up soon, I should be able to get working on that. Expect it out sometime in December, hopefully in the first half of the month.

Animated Observations Update #4

It’s that time of the month again on Animated Observations, where I make sure to keep you all updated on what’s happening and what to expect on this blog, as well as on Solidly Liquid. With that being said, here’s what you need to know.

Back to School

Well, it’s official. School is now back in session and ya boy is a college freshman. It’s definitely a weird experience being back in school full time, but at the same time it feels good. Having work to do an a goal to work towards honestly feels great, plus I have clubs to look forward to. I am planning on joining the E-sports club, which looks like it will be fun. As for blog content, as I mentioned last month, it will probably end up being slowed down a lot, but hopefully I can get stuff out at least once a week.

Lack of Motivation

School also comes at a good time for another reason: a lot of my motivation to write about and watch anime has disappeared. This isn’t because I like anime any less, or because I like to write any less. It is mainly a result of my difficulty with starting and sticking with the anime that I watch, which is why I’ve stopped paying attention to seasonal shows as much. I hope this block is momentary, so that I can go back to writing for like 10 hours in a row and ignoring all my responsibilities.

NYCMidnight Writing Contest

I decided a couple months ago that I should maybe try and put my writing accolades to the test and enter a writing competition. I’m currently doing the flash fiction challenge from a group called NYCMidnight, where we get two rounds minimum to write thousand word or less stories based on certain things, such as a specific setting and item. The first round was a little rough, and I don’t know how prepared I am for the next one, but I’m gonna do my best, I guess.

Aniwriter Update #17: College Preparations

Welcome, weebs, to Animated Observations

Well, I forgot to post this when it was supposed to be posted, but to be fair, I haven’t had much going on, nor has there been a whole lot of interest on the The Aniwriter as of late. Still, I’ll go ahead and let you all know what has been going on.

Preparing for College

There has definitely been a not insignificant amount of work for getting into college, between filling out my FAFSA, setting up my account with the college, and registering for orientation so that I can even sign up for classes, but so far everything has been going relatively smoothly.

I’ve also had the pleasure of getting to talk about transferring colleges with a few co-workers who are also going to the same college. All of us are actually going to the same orientation together, so that should be pretty fun.

The Winter 2019 Anime Season

As with most seasons I tend not to bother with most of the shows and really try and focus on the shows that grab my attention. For Winter, there were three shows that have did just that: The Promised Neverland, Dororo, and Kaguya-Sama: Love is War. The Promised Neverland turned out to be as good as thought it was going to. Dororo, at least as much as I have seen of it, became a source of restored faith in studio MAPPA, proving they once again that they can make some great stuff. As for Kaguya-Sama, the show has been a pleasant surprise that I am excited to have started.

I plan on having some kind of post discussing each of these shows out hopefully fairly soon.

Aniwriter Update #8: Finishing the Semester and Preparing for New Things

Welcome, weebs and authors alike, to another update.

First off, apologies for missing last week’s update. I honestly thought I had written and posted one last week, but I noticed yesterday that I did not. With that being said, I don’t actually have much to talk about blog-wise, so I thought I would just talk about what’s going on with my life.

Finishing Up My First Semester of Community College

Its almost been a full semester in community college for me, and it has been a pretty good experience. The coursework was a lot easier than I was expecting, largely because I took a lot of AP classes when I was in high school. I was fairly worried at the start of the semester that I wasn’t gonna be able to make a lot of friends while I was there, but luckily that has not been the case. In fact, a few of the people I met in my psychology class and I have already made a D&D group together.

I have only been going part-time as of this semester, so I just took English and Psychology to start filling out my general education requirements. I can say for certain though that my English class has been a lot more challenging than my Psychology class. A lot of the papers I have had to write have actually been pretty fun.

Where I am Going From Here

It is difficult to say what it is exactly I want to do, because I really do not have a good idea of that yet. The more and more I think about it, the more I kind of just end up lost in my own thoughts. Eventually I will settle on something, but for now, I’m just gonna keep writing and hope that I come up with something eventually.

What have you guys been up to lately? Let me know in the comments below. Also, if you want to support the Aniwriter through donations or are just feeling generous, consider buying me a coffee on Ko-Fi. Otherwise, thanks for reading and bye for now, Friendos!
