Even as I write this article now, my experience with Anime conventions is fairly limited. Before Knoxville Anime Day, I had been to Youma-con, another Knoxville convention that is a bit bigger than Knoxville Anime Day, and Anime Midwest, which I had only gone to for a day, and didn’t go to any of the panels. This is to say that going to Anime Day was a fantastic experience and I can’t wait to go back next year.

There was not that much going on because it was only a day, but it was still plenty for me. The morning was a bit slow, they ended up opening a half an hour late. That was fine though, cause I was also doing homework while I was there. After that, though, the fun really started.

The main event area had Just Dance 2018 set up, so of course ya boy best dancer on the planet had to get in their and show some kids how it’s done! (Jk I am actually one of the worst dancers ever).

After that, it was time to check out the vendors and see what they had to offer. Unfortunately, because it was a smaller con, there was not a lot in terms of variety, mainly just the popular stuff. However, there was still a lot of cool stuff, like lanyards and keychains. There was also a lot of pocky, which I bought two big bags worth of.

Then came the video game room, where I sucked a lot. Not only am not that great of a smash player, my fighting game skills are non-existent, so my games ended up lasting about as long as it would take you to walk from one end of the room to the other, which is to say about 20 seconds.

There was a lot of cool cosplay there. In fact, it seemed like almost a quarter of the con was cosplaying. Here are a few of those:

Overall, I had a lot of fun. Getting to talk to more people, especially in the local community, was a great change of pace and it really made me feel like I’m in a good place right now. (Also, getting the pocky was absolutely worth.) So many lovely people!
