30 Day Anime Challenge – Day 19: The Most Epic Scene

Hello, Anifriends

Sorry about the lack of posts over the last few days. With school almost over for me, I felt the need to kick back and celebrate. I also found out something about an acquaintance of mine that has me a little on edge right now, but that’s a bit more personal. For day 19 of the 30 Day Anime Challenge, I’ll be looking at the most epic scene in anime.

This is certainly a bit of a broad category. as I am sure people, including myself, take epic to mean a few different things. Also, things can be considered epic in a number of different ways. However, even thinking about all of the ways you could define epic, there is really only one scene that deserves this title.

That would be the final fight between Naruto and Sasuke in the original Naruto series.

Love or hate Naruto as a series, there is no denying that the fight scene between the two main characters fits almost every definition of Epic you could think of.

For those who have not seen Naruto, allow me to try and give a little context. The show focuses on Naruto Uzumaki, an orphan of the Hidden Leaf Village who hopes to become the leader of the village, known as the Hokage. After joining a squad of ninjas in training, Naruto meets Sasuke, another orphan whose entire clan was killed by his older brother and who he now seeks revenge on. Throughout the course of the show, Sasuke is tempted by Orochimaru, a former ninja of the Leaf Village, to join him in exchange for giving Sasuke the power to defeat Itachi. Eventually, Sasuke gives into Orochimaru and decides to leave the village. Naruto and a few other ninjas in training set out to lead a rescue mission, culminating in a fight that means everything to both people involved. If Naruto wins, he gets his friend back, and if Sasuke wins he gets the ability to get revenge on his brother.

With the show being as long as it is, trying to give any more context would probably require a few thousand words. The short version is really that this scene, which spans about 5 episodes, has everything: A great fight, emotional payoff, and a resolution that is both sad and makes sense.

What would you say is the most epic scene in anime? Let me know in the comments below. Also, if you want to support the Aniwriter through donations or are just feeling generous, consider buying me a coffee on Ko-Fi. Otherwise, thanks for reading and bye for now, Friendos!
